Philip F. Wormwood died Feb. 6 at Bay Path Nursing Home in Duxbury. He was 86. Born on June 8, 1921, in Lawrence, MA, he was the son of Clarence and Bertha (Ruff) Wormwood. He served in the US Army during WWII in the PhillipineTheatre of action. He retired as the principal of Andover High School , where he had been employed previously as a teacher, then assistant principal , then principal from 1950-1981. He served on the Conservation Board in Andover. He was an enthusiastic gardener and he enjoyed writing and reading. He has resided in Duxbury for the past seven years.
He was the husband of the late Helen (Lacey) Wormwood who passed away in 2006. He is survived by his two daughters; Carla Moss and her husband Dr. Richard Moss of Duxbury, and Jeanne Clayton and her husband John Clayton of New Salem, MA. He was the brother of the late Herbert Wormwood and the late Robert Wormwood. Visiting hours will be held at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 7 Mattakeesett St., Pembroke Center on Sun.
