Arthur Warden (Ward) Murray, 92, of Carver, formerly of Hanover, died Friday, January 18, after a long illness. He was the husband of Katherine deRouville Murray.
Born December 16, 1915, in Passaic New Jersey, he was the son of Stanley and Kate Murray.
Mr. Murray attended schools in Passaic NJ and received his BS in 1940 from Stevens Institute of Technology. He served as a meteorologist in the United States Air Force during World War II.
Mr. Murray was married on April 29, 1944 to Katherine deRouville. The couple lived in Florida, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maine, Massachusetts and Venezuela. He was employed by the American Can Company until his retirement in 1977. Throughout his life he enjoyed his family, boating, and amateur radio. He was an active member of the Hanover First Congregational Church, where he served as a deacon and sang in the choir.
Upon retirement Mr. Murray became a founding member of SCORE (Service Corp. of Retired Executives). He remained active in that organization until his illness.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children Jane L. Murray and Matthew W. Murray, his daughter in law, Deira Beth Murray, two grandchildren Elizabeth and Katherine Murray, his sister Isabel Bernfeld, many nephews and friends.
