William “Lanny” White, of Plympton, died Jan. 9 at his home in Plympton. He was 69. Born in Plymouth on Oct. 25, 1938, he was the son of the late Howard and Clara (Stevens) White. He resided most of his life in Plympton. He served in the US Air Force, then served in the US Army Reserves, retiring as a Staff Sergeant E-6 after 30 years. He was employed at Otis Air Force Base as a mechanic, working on Army helicopters. He was a member of the Upland Sportsmens Club in Plympton. He was President of the senior citizens in Plympton and a member of the Triad council.He was a former volunteer fireman in Plympton. He was a member of the Plympton Congregational Church, and his love was singing in the church choir. He enjoyed playing cribbage and he enjoyed his computer. He is survived by his wife Karen (Billings) White, his two sons; Jeffrey White and his wife Lisa of Wareham, and Gregory White of Plympton. He was the brother of the late Jane Thompson and the late Ira White. He especially loved spending time with his three grandchildren, Bryan, Christopher, and Daniel White of Wareham. He is also survived by nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at the Plympton Congregational Church, 254 Main St., Plympton on Sat. Jan.12 at 11:00AM. Interment will be at a later date at the MA National Cemetery, Bourne. Memorial donations may be made to Cranberry Hospice, 36 Cordage Park Circle, Suite 326, Plymouth, MA 02360.
