Barbara (Towle) Cain of Pembroke died on Oct 9,2007 at the Wingate at Silver Lake Nursing Home in Kingston at the age of 79 . She was the wife of the late Albert E. Cain Jr. Loving Mother of Ted Cain and his wife Susan of Pembroke and Patricia Cain Thompson and her husband James of Houston TX. Grandmother of Amanda Cain and Brian Cain of Pembroke and Kathryn Thompson of TX. Daughter of the late Harold and Lucy (MacDonald) Towel. Barbara lived in Pembroke since 1950. She was a graduate of Weymouth HS. and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University in 1950. She was a charter member of the Society of Woman Engineers and past chairman of its New England section, member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and member of the Massachusetts Society of Professional Engineers. Barbara was also a member of St Andrews Church in Hanover, was a Camp Fire Girls leader, chairman of the Pembroke Pond Study Committee, volunteered at the Ada Hall House , was a substitute teacher at Silver Lake HS and was a member of the PTO in the Pembroke elementary schools. Calling hours will be held on Friday Oct 12,2007 from 4-7pm at the Shepherd Funeral Home (Pembroke Center). Family and Friends are welcome to gather at the funeral home on Sat Oct 13,2007 at 8:15am followed by a mass at St Andrew’s Church in Hanover at 10am. Burial will be in Center Cemetery in Pembroke.
