First met Greg when he was in Junior High. He always treated me with Love & Respect, even when I was uncomplimentary. I appreciated that. He was a very fast runner for Hingham high school and for many years his name was emblazoned there. He loved cars and was a superb salesman that filled customer needs. He was a skilled fisherman & scuba diver and loved the beach. His sense of humor and quotes will remain cherished remembrances of him.
I got to know most of the people he really cared about in life. They were all terrific people. I am grateful for all they did for him over the years. I believe I will see him again in heaven where we will embrace and be happy together forever in an eternal family. We are all children of GOD.I wish everyone that knew him -knew this.

Most of my memories of Greg were at our Smith family reunions in MA. He was always around the pool and having a good time! He was also so happy and so cool to be around. He was always nice and always had a smile on his face!

I am sorry to hear of Greg's passing at such a young age.
Dennis and I met Jan and Greg in the 70's in Ft. Lauderdale.(Key to the Good Life) We had many fun times together.
Camping in Sebring and Salt Springs
Traveling to Key West
Helping Greg out after he tested his 911 Porsche Carerra in the Atlantic Blvd. Canal to see if it would float.
Listening to James Taylor(Fire and Rain), Steely
Dan, Cars.
We were very sad when they left after a year and went back home.
We did have some very nice times in Massachusetts with them. Traveling to Moosehead Lake in Audi and Fox. It was the most beautiful fall we have ever seen.
We are glad Greg had time with his grandchildren as they are the most precious gift of all.
Our condolences to all Greg's family and friends.

I've admired my uncle Greg my whole life. He was always the "cool" guy whose confidence and humor always made me smile. Seeing how passionate he was in his love of cars helped me realize that is what life is about- finding your passion and then finding a job related to that passion. Every time I'd interact with him he made it obvious he was an expert in his field of work and never stopped trying to be better at it- this drive to work hard at what you love was passed onto me in my work today.
Greg always made me feel like his equal- even when I was a know-it-all teenager. We would talk about Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, traveling, the best beaches in the Caribbean, sports teams, etc. Even though we only saw each other every few years, it seemed as though no time had passed between visits.
The week my family spent with Greg, Christine, Alex, Tiffany, and Elle in Aruba is still one of our favorite vacations. It was great being in a place that Greg loved and seeing him in his element. The memories of sunsets, horse back riding, scuba diving, and chasing lizards around the pool are still talked about with my sons.
Christine, Tiffany, and Kim we love you and wish we could be there.

Greg was an amazing, jovial, fun loving person always ready with a teasing comment and a smile. “Love ya!” was the phrase I remember him saying often. A few of my favorite memories were visiting his new house where he told a story of a crane snatching one of his prize coy fish “dumb fish, why didn’t it just swim to the bottom”. Greg tried to devise netting to detour the future pillage of his expensive fish. To a small degree it was reminiscent of Grampy’s bombardment of the squirrels. During a visit to Boston in 2007, I enjoyed watching my Dad interact with his younger brother and suddenly become 20 years younger. When we followed Greg and Christine to the restaurant Dad was squealing the rental cars tires out of the parking lot. It was a side of my Dad I had never seen before.
In 2007 I remember going into Higham High school and seeing Greg Smith still holding the 400 meter track record (or was it the 800?). “Legs of steel” my Dad said. Does anyone know if he is still the reigning champion??
Another time when we were in Higham harbor. Jeff was lamenting to Grammy “You never got me a boat, but you bought Greg a huge boat…it was practically a yacht” Grammy assured me it was a small boat that Greg used to simply go around the harbor and get lobster. When we drove out towards Hull beach Grammy indicated Greg was forbidden to ever go this far as the ocean currents were treacherous. Later on Greg smirked while letting me know he went out there all the time (nobody tell Grammy).
My wife Cassie enjoys the time we adults we preoccupied eating Christine’s delicious homemade apple pie until “Where is Cade (our 2 yr old)?” Christine found him placing bets on which fighting fish would win after placing them into the same bowl together.
Christine you brought amazing joy to Greg’s life! He was a different man with you. I was on the other side of the country and I saw the powerful impact of abundant happiness that prevailed in his life with you around. My life has been enriched by knowing you. My children have felt love from you. You are an amazing person. I wish the best for you during this hard time.
I am going to miss you Greg!
Love Brett & Cassie, Cade, TyAnna, Hadley & Tilden

Dear Greg or as you termed yourself... Fat Boy Slim,
I feel grateful that your wife answered the phone a few months ago and that you were up for saying a quick hello. It had been quite some time since I spoke to you last, but it was if no time had passed. You were the same funny Greggy who took time to shed light a diagnosis that you were not happy about but then made light of the conversation and told me all about Kim and Tiffany and your grandchildren. You are and will be missed by so many. May your generous, funny, sun worshipping, cat loving soul Rest In Peace.
Love,
Shayna
