CARVER – James D. Pratt, 86, of Carver, passed away peacefully at home on October 24, 2017 after a long period of failing health. He was born and raised in Kingston, son of the late Katherine and Roger Pratt and a graduate of Kingston High School, Class of 1949. After school, he joined the Army Reserves while attending Wentworth Institute. He graduated from Wentworth in 1952 with an Associates Degree and began working for the Foxboro Company. He was a Korean War Veteran who served as an Army Sergeant in the Military Police Division while based in Eniwetok, near the Bikini Islands, in the South Pacific, during the testing of the hydrogen bomb. Discharged from the Army in 1954, he then went on to get his bachelors in Engineering and Management at Northeastern University in 1961. He worked at Honeywell Company before becoming a purchasing specialist for Raytheon Company, where he retired from after 21 years due to a medical condition. After retiring from full-time employment, he worked at the Plymouth Athletic Club part time for 20 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Carol A. (Koski/Feinberg) Pratt of Carver. Jim was also the devoted father of Steven Pratt and his wife Linda of North Attleboro, Janice Durand and her husband Devin of Encinitas, CA., David Pratt and his wife Lisa of Attleboro, Michael Koski and his wife Patricia from Weare, NH. and Deborah Heath and her husband Stephen of Plymptonas well as 16 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. During his life, Jim was always willing to serve his community and was a member of the Silver Lake Regional High School School Committee for over a decade. He also helped establishthe Silver Lake Hoop Group Boosters Club, belonged to the Elks, the American Legion Post 40 and was a diligent member of the Knights of Columbus Council #4480 in Kingston. Jim was a life-long sports fan. He was a Patriots season ticket holder for over 45 years (his tickets still remain in the family) and he attended the Patriots first Super Bowl appearance in 1986. Additionally, Jim loved camping and was a member of the Family Motor Coach Association. Visitation will be held at Shepherds Funeral Home, 216 Main Street in Kingston on Sunday, October 29th from 2-6 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 30th at 10:30 am at the same location. A burial to follow at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Knights of Columbus Council # 4480, P.O. Box 48 Kingston, Ma. 02364 and The Foundation for Ichthyosis and Related Skin Types Inc. at 2616 N. Broad Street, Colmar, Pa. or www.firstskinfoundation.org in the name of Jenna Pratt.
