Sheila Inglis Milliken of Duxbury, passed away peacefully on October 8th, 2017, at the age of 90, surrounded by family. She was born in Letchworth, England, in 1927, the youngest of six children. At age 12 during WWII, she was evacuated from England to the USA and stayed with philanthropist Helen Clay Frick along with six other girls at Miss Frick’s house in Prides Crossing, MA, and later in Mt. Kisco, NY. She returned to England but came back to attend Barnard College under the sponsorship of Miss Frick. In Mount Kisco, she met and fell in love with her husband Henry Milliken Jr, who predeceased her in 2015 after 67 years of marriage. They lived together on Long Island, Bedford Hills, and New York City, NY, where she was a homemaker and mother to four children. They summered in Duxbury, MA, until they moved there permanently in 1972. Sheila loved living in Duxbury, where she worked as a medical receptionist for several local doctors. She was an excellent tennis player and loved the beach. In their retirement years, Sheila and Henry volunteered at the Council of Aging and Meal on Wheels and together became world travelers. They loved exploring new places and had many wonderful experiences, including a hot air balloon ride in Africa over the Serengeti Plain. Sheila is predeceased by her husband, Henry, her siblings, particularly her brother, Ian Inglis, with whom she had a special bond. Sheila is survived by her four children: Susan Milliken-Rogers (and husband Pete), Paige Vinal, Dana Sansom, Henry Milliken III (and wife Cheryl); five grandchildren: Jody and Dustin Starr, Jennifer Molignano, and Trevor and Ian Milliken; and a great grandson, Jack Molignano. A private ceremony will be held.
