Geraldine Anne Furtado, of Plympton, died July 8, 2017. She was born on July 11, 1940 in Plymouth, MA and raised in Carver. Daughter of the late Andrew A. and Jacqueline Gomes. Sister of Andrew A. Gomes, Jr of Houston, TX, Rev. Dr. Robert J. Gomes of Wareham, and the late Judith Lopes. Loving mother of Carla Haggler of Leesburg, VA, and Jennifer Furtado of Monrovia, CA. She was also grandmother of Jordan Furtado, Jayden Haggler, Milan Furtado, Jarius Haggler, Joey Haggler, Janae Haggler, Jasmin Haggler, and Jalen Haggler. Geraldine was educated in Carver, Plymouth and Kingston school systems. She was employed at John Hancock Ins. Co. in Boston, Plymouth Old Colony Memorial, and Halliday Book Binding Co. She was a faithful member of the Community Baptist Church of Marion in her later years, and a member of their Praise Team/Choir, and a member of St John the Baptist Club in Carver.She volunteered with various ministries: from pantry ministries to local Cable TV programs. In her earlier years she faithfully served in one of the nationally known ministry called "Operation Blessings". She enjoyed the Arts and participated in a number of plays, and sang with an African American choral group featured at Brockton Community College. She also sang with local churches and choral groups in Plympton, She was loved by many and will be missed dearly. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday July 27 at the United Parish Church, Rt. 58, in Carver at 12:00 noon.
