Obituary of Laura A. Johndrow
Please share a memory of Laura to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
“Perhaps they are not stars but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy”.
Laura Ann Johndrow, born August 28, 1957. Heaven needed another angel so she was called home and welcomed with waiting and open arms by some very special family and friends on July 10, 2017.
She is survived by her loving husband; Kevin Johndrow; daughters, Shelly Frazier, Kelly Orlando and Jennifer Johndrow-Gomes; 6 grandchildren, James Frazier, Jordan Frazier, Jason Johndrow, Mia Gomes, Joseph Gomes and Lucia Orlando; Her parents, Margaret Doucette and John Doucette; 4 siblings, John Doucette, Lois Briffett, Gary Doucette and Gail Jemmott; Brother in laws, David and Peter Johndrow; sister in laws; Dorothy Beveridge, Cynthia Johndrow and Ginger Nash; 10 nephews and 8 nieces; Aunt and uncle Barbara and Joe Giovino; Cousins, Ronald Bartholomew, Cathy Bartholomew, Lynne Cahill and Caryl Conroy Hooker; Son in laws; Jeff Gomes, William Woodside and Timothy Feely; 2 Step-grand children, Matthew Woodside and Joshua Woodside; two very special friends Susan Nichols and Jenna Cona who never left her side; dear friend and neighbor Joyce Hay; and her precious fur babies; Nicki, Kristi, Cally, Princess and Harley. She used to love taking pictures and especially loved swans. She loved to go for walks. She was passionate about keeping the neighborhood clean so we brought a trash bag with us and picked up litter daily. She had a lot of “I forgots, I forget what I forgot and I lost its”. But there were never any “I can’t s”, just “I’ll try”.
She was the most caring and considerate woman and was the “go to” person that everyone relied on for everything. She has touched so many people. She was a stunningly beautiful, tall, slender, dark haired beauty with warm brown eyes, porcelain skin and a smile that outshined the moon. Laura had a Bachelor’s degree in nursing and dedicated her 30 year career providing extraordinary compassion and care to countless patients. She was passionate about animals of all kinds and loved to travel and photography.
The tears will well up in our eyes for days and years to come because she will be greatly missed. She would want us to live each day and see the good in people, be kind, helpful, patient, strong and forgiving. Fight for what you believe in. She will continue to watch over us all from heaven as she did while she was here with us on earth. Love is not what you say. Love is what you do. Tomorrow may never come so don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today. Tell and show the people you care about that you love them. Take the risks you are afraid to take, step out of your comfort zone and make your dreams come true.
In honoring Laura’s wishes we will have a celebration of her life at a later date. No formal ceremonies will be held. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation on behalf of Laura to the Standish Humane Society, P.O. Box 634, Duxbury, MA 02331.
