Obituary of Gayle R. Rolfe

Please share a memory of Gayle to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Gayle R. Rolfe, age 66, of Carver, Ma, died on Friday, July 7th after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Edward J. Rolfe of Carver, MA. Gayle was born in Somerville, MA on March 10, 1951. She was the daughter of the late Steven and Helen Rigas (Diehl) of Somerville, MA. Gayle worked as a medical transcriptionist at Beth Israel Deaconess, formerly Jordan, Hospital, for 35 years where she had countless friends before she retired to take care of her granddaughter. Besides her husband, Edward, Gayle leaves her daughters, Kelley Niemi of Carver, MA and Bree Rolfe of Austin, TX. Gayle also leaves behind her cherished granddaughter, Addison Niemi and her son-in-law David Niemi as well as many aunts, cousins and close friends. Gayle’s love was relentless. Whether that love was for her family, working out at the gym, travelling, entertaining or spending time on the beach, she pursued her joys with a determined and open spirit. She made friends wherever she went— at work, the gym, on vacations and even at the library with her granddaughter, Addison, who was her greatest joy and friend in the last years of her life. Gayle was the party. Calling hours will be on Thursday, July 13th from 4-8 PM at Shepherd’s Funeral Home at 116 Main Street Carver, MA. A funeral service will be held at the same location at 10 AM on Friday, July 14th. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in memory of Gayle to either the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance PO Box 32141, New York, NY 10087-2141 or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation 4550 Montgomery Ave, Suite 1100 N, Bethesda, MD 20814.
