I grew up with Karl back in Roslindale. Very fine memories of our similar childhood. He was a good friend, and a good ballplayer.
...A little story: When I left for the USAF in 1950, I said goodbye to Karl's mother and she almost cried, saying she had been seeing me and all the other kids so many times year after year, playing football, baseball, street hockey, stickball, and more near the Ohmstede house since we were in the first grade. And now most of us were going into the military. She hated to see us go.
