Obituary of Barbara H. Killian

Barbara Ann Healey Killian, of Duxbury, died Thursday, April 13, 2017 surrounded by her loving family in her home in Duxbury Massachusetts.
Barbara was born in Everett, Massachusetts. A graduate of Everett High School and Radcliffe College, Barbara started her career as an elementary school teacher in Gloucester and a book editor for D.C. Heath and Company. Always civic minded, Barbara considered herself a professional volunteer. She was an active member of the Duxbury community, Catholic Church, Chrism, Interfaith Council and holiday food baskets, and the Plymouth Community Nursing Association. Never judgmental but unusually quick witted, Barbara was known to offer new insights and opinions. A proud alumna of Radcliffe College, Barbara was the longtime treasurer for the class of 1953.
Barbara’s family includes son Jonathan, his wife Catherine, grandchildren Nicholas, Meghan, Henry, and Bailey Killian of Rhode Island; daughter Kathryn, her husband Patrick, grandchildren Grace, Shelby, and Camille McDavid of Arlington, Virginia; daughter Mary, her husband Brad, grandchildren Bradley Parker, Emily, and Chadd Doyle of Duxbury, Massachusetts; son Paul, his wife Brigid, grandchildren George, Mary, John, and Helen Killian of Groton, Massachusetts; and son Charles, his wife Karen, grandchildren Daniel and Jake Killian of Winchester, Massachusetts. Barbara is also survived by her brother Charles Healey, SJ of Weston, Massachusetts, and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
She is preceded by her husband of 58 years, Charles; daughter Ann; and parents Grace and Arthur Healey.
Calling hours are 4-8:00 PM on Friday, April 21st at the Shepherd Funeral Home 216 Main Street, (Rt. 106) Kingston. A mass in celebration of Barbara's life will be held at Holy Family Church, Duxbury at 11:00 am on Saturday April 22nd.
