June L. Shire, 82, of Plympton, passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 22, 2017. Beloved wife of Richard H. Shire. Loving mother of the late Gary Shire and the late Paul Shire. Daughter of Rupert and Pearl (Roach) Hudgins. Sister of Earl Hudgins of Riverside CA, Marilyn Bates of Garland TX and the late Myrtle Goodwin of Braintree. June is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and her many friends. June was the assistant town clerk / treasurer for Halifax for many years and worked at the Bridgewater State correctional facility. She was co-founder, along with her husband, of the Plymouth Chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Drivers / M.A.D.D. for many years as a victim advocate. Longtime member of First Baptist Church of Hanson and enjoyed singing in the choir, traveling, visiting with friends, and was a second mother to many. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, February 27th from 3-7:00 PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St (Rt. 106) Kingston. A funeral service will take place at the Shepherd Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 28th at 10:30 AM, with a graveside service to follow at Central cemetery in Halifax. A memorial service will be held on March 18th at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Hanson. In lieu of flowers Mrs. Shire’s family requests donations be made to: First Baptist Church of Hanson, 214 Main St, Hanson, MA 02341 and/or Cranberry Area Hospice, 36 Cordage Park Circle, Suite 326, Plymouth, MA 02360.
