Jeffrey David Sampson, 48, passed away peacefully February 21, 2017, at home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous five and a half year battle with cancer. Jeffrey is survived by his devoted wife Michelle (Monteiro) Sampson and his children: son Kevin Pratt and Ariel, and daughter Ashley both of Kingston. Loving son of David and Patricia (Ferrari) Sampson of Plymouth, brother Greg Sampson and his wife Jeanmarie of Duxbury, sister Jennifer (Sampson) Pristawa and husband Marc of South Boston, granddaughter Shealyn, as well as five nieces and nephews Jack, Owen, Evan, Ella, and Samuel. He was a graduate of Silver Lake Regional High School in Kingston where he was named Most Athletic in 1986. He was an enthusiastic sports fan and excelled in football, basketball, and baseball. After High School, Jeff joined the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department in 1989 where he was well respected and advanced to the rank of Assistant Deputy Superintendent of IPS. He loved to fish and spent many days on Cape Cod Bay with friends and family enjoying his boat “Chasin’ Time”. Jeff had a larger than life personality and will always be remembered for his great wit and an extraordinary ability to captivate those in his presence. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, February 26th from 1-5:00 PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St (Rt. 106) Kingston. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, February 27th at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph's Church, Kingston. A graveside service will follow at Evergreen cemetery in Kingston.In lieu of flowers Jeffrey’s family requests donations may be made to the Sampson Family Fund at Rockland Trust in Kingston.
