Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dr. Robert Ulseth, MD passed away in his homeDecember 11, 2016 at the age of 86. Dr. Bob is survived by all seven children, fourteen grandchildren and 7.5 great grandchildren with his ex-wife Georgiana as well as one child, four grandchildren and one great grandchild with his current partner Marsha MacDonald.
Some of his accomplishments include being an Eagle Scout, being on the University of Illinois swimming, diving and gymnastic (Olympic alternate) teams in college, serving in the Army during the Korean conflict and being a member of the Kiwanis Club. Dr. Bob was an enthusiastic outdoorsman who enjoyed white water rafting, water skiing (nationally ranked), hiking, camping and was a passionate bird watcher. In addition to outdoor activities, Dr. Bob was an avid ping- pong player and loved to play backgammon. He enjoyed learning languages, taking Spanish and French classes well into his 80’s. He loved traveling and had explored five of the seven continents.
Perhaps his greatest accomplishment was being a doctor. Dr. Bob loved being a doctor. Aftergraduating from the University of IllinoisMedical School, he moved to West Palm Beach, Florida where he was in General Practice from 1954 to 1983 and was also a charter member of the Family Medical Association. He moved to Duxbury Massachusetts where he continued to practice medicine from 1983 until his retirement in 2010. Dr. Bob was the type of doctor who came in early to meet patients before work, stayed late to see them after work, came in on weekends to meet with them and made house calls till the end. He was the old fashioned doctor who did what he did for love of the profession and his patients, and he was loved by them in return.
Dr. Bob’s memorial service will be held sometime this spring, the announcement will be in the paper.
In lieu of flowers please send donations to Doctors without Borders. A memorial Service will be held in the spring.
