Marie L. Barry, 86, of Duxbury, died suddenly on November 10, 2016. Beloved wife of Robert F. Barry, she was a graduate of Burdett College and was employed by Catholic Charities in Somerville, MA, for many years. She devoted her entire life to her family, her faith, and volunteer work. An ardent fan of genealogy, she spent years proudly researching her family’s Irish roots. She was a talented seamstress and crafter, donating time and talent to create countless dresses for children in Haiti, prayer shawls for the sick, and hats for premature babies. Marie was past president of the League of Catholic Women and an honorary member of Sachem Quilters. With her husband, she coordinated the weekly Communion service at Wingate at Silver Lake. In addition to her husband, Marie is survived by son Joseph Barry and wife Denise of Pittsburgh, PA, Robert Barry and wife Ellen of Marshfield, MA, Maureen Elitzak and husband Jim of Scottsdale, AZ, Eileen Sawyer and husband Bruce of Amston, CT, and Kathleen Hollenbeck of Barrington, RI. Marie was the sister of James F. Welch and the adoring grandmother of Chris and Lisa Barry, Lauren and Michelle Elitzak, Alexandra, Kyle, and Kelsie Hollenbeck, Sasha and Michael Barry, and Bryce Sawyer, and great-grandmother to Ian Barry. She was the daughter of the late Dennis Welch and Lillian Tierney Welch. Visiting hours will be held at Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main Street, Kingston, on Tuesday, November 15, from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral from the Shepherd Funeral Home on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Church, Kingston, at 10:00 a.m. Interment in Mayflower Cemetery, Duxbury.
