Obituary of James S. Butler

James Stephen Butler “Red”, age 76, of Pembroke MA, passed away surrounded by family on November 7, 2016. He was born in Boston on March 7, 1940. Red served in the 4th Armored Division of the United States Army. He attended Boston Trade School and later Butera School of Art. For most of his life, he owned a union sign company and was a member of District Council #35, Local Union #391, Sign and Pictorial Display. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his companion of over thirty years, Pamela Pitts of Marshfield. He is the loving father of Steven Butler and his wife, Laurie of Fairhaven, the late Tammy (Butler) Smart, Janet Butler and her husband, Dorran Dougherty of Kingston, and the late Tracey Butler. He had thirteen grandchildren, many niece, nephews, cousins and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Fisher House Boston, P. O. Box 230, South Walpole, MA 02071. A Funeral Mass will be held on Veteran’s Day, Friday, November 11, at Holy Family Duxbury, 601 Tremont Street, Duxbury at 10:00AM with an interment at Pembroke Center Cemetery, Pembroke.
