I was deeply saddened to learn of Jamie's death. He really was one of the good guys. We knew each other for some time when he lived on the waterfront in Boston, and I worked at a nearby bar/restaurant. We even had dinner one summer in Paris when he was there on business, and I was there for an academic conference! He was forever smiling, in particular after his marriage and the birth of his child. Even though I have not seen him for some time, I miss him already.
