Obituary of David L. Higgins
Please share a memory of David to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
David Lawrence Higgins, 50, of Duxbury, Massachusetts, passed away unexpectedly on July 26, 2016 at his home. David was a loving husband, father, uncle, coach, mentor, and friend to countless people.
He was born on January 9, 1966 in Brookline, Massachusetts to parents Thomas and Jane Higgins. Raised in Brookline, David received his undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and his graduate degree from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell.
David loved the outdoors and was an avid sportsman who enjoyed lacrosse, golf, fishing, running, tennis and skiing. His greatest love though was coaching Duxbury youth sports. He was an active coach and mentor for many years. His kind spirit, patience and infectious enthusiasm for sports left a lasting, positive impact on a countless number of Duxbury youth players.
For the last fourteen years, David felt very fortunate to have built an incredibly satisfying and successful career working for DJD Medical, Inc. as a representative for DePuy Synthes. He was extremely dedicated to his work at the Brigham and Women’s and Faulkner Hospitals and treasured his relationships with his coworkers and the hospital doctors, operating staff, and patients.
Above all else, David cherished his role as a husband and father. His family was the central focus of his life. He leaves behind his loving wife Monica of 24 years and four children: John Patrick (21), James Matthew (20), Siobhan Elizabeth (16) and Mary Katherine (10). He is also survived by his parents, Tom and Jane Higgins, as well as his sister, Colleen Higgins, of Sugar Hill, New Hampshire.
Visiting hours will be held at Shepherd Funeral Home at 216 Main Street (Rt. 106) in Kingston, Massachusetts on Sunday, July 31st from 1-3pm and 6-8pm. A Mass for David will be held on Monday, August 1st at 10:00AM at Holy Family Church, 601 Tremont Street in Duxbury, Massachusetts.
