Renelta A. (Rena King) Moran of Kingston, Massachusetts died peacefully in her sleep on July 9, 2016, just short of 100 years. She was the wife of Francis M. Moran, a former superintendent of the Silver Lake Regional School District. Born in Dracut, Mass. in 1916, the daughter of William and Selma (Rhomberg) King, she was a graduate of LowellTeachers College, now Lowell University. She taught elementary school in Kingston, Plympton, andPlymouth, Massachusetts and four years in Junior and Senior High School in Guilford, Connecticut. She was a member of the Plymouth Country Club where she was an avid golfer and also a bridge player. She had a strong will and deep religious convictions and was a faithful communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Kingston and Miramar Retreat Center in Duxbury, Mass. She was also well known for her beautiful, hand-knit afghans, especially popular at the St. Joseph’s Mike Moran Golf Tournament’s annual raffle. She hosted Austrian cousins for extended periodswhich led to lasting loving friendships and numerousfamily visits to and from Voralberg, Austria. Her life was devoted to her family, her students, and her church. She also loved traveling, painting, and spending time at Darby Pond with dear friends. Rena had lots of enthusiasm for whatever project she was doing: braiding beautiful rugs, babysitting her grandson Jeff, cooking a lobster feast for family, orlearning to make the Austrian speciality Kase Spaetzle. In their retirement, she and Mike spent several extended stays in Mexico City where she enrolled in Spanish classes. She is survived by her son, William Moran of Concord, Mass, his wife Sally Elliott, and their son, Jeffrey Moran. She is predeceased by her infant daughter Kathleen, her sisters Pauline Reilly and Gertrude McCabe, and her brothers Raymond, Richard, and John King. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Many loving thanks to those who kindly and lovingly helped her in her final years, Skippy and Judy, Francine, Donna, Patti and many others. Visiting hours will be held at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St, Kingston on Thursday July 14, from 6:00 to 8:00PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Church in Kingston at 11:00AM. Internment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery in Rockland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Miramar Retreat Center, PO Box M, Duxbury, Mass.02331-0614, or St. Joseph’s Church, Main Street, Kingston, Mass. 02364.
