Obituary of Joseph Salmon

Please share a memory of Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joseph Salmon, 63, of Pembroke, passed away at his home on Sunday, May 29th, after several months of valiant battle with lung cancer. He was surrounded by family and friends throughout his battle and the time of his passing. Joe’s loyalty to others was rewarded by the gift of extraordinary friendships which demonstrated their might in the unfailing presence and support of close friends during this difficult journey. Joe was raised in Pembroke and was a familiar face in Pembroke Center for many years when he was employed at Fernandes and later East Bridgewater Savings Bank. He graduated from Silver Lake Regional High School, and Bentley College. Joe later worked at Granite Cooperative Bank and Verizon and remained friends with many coworkers from each place he worked. He was a huge sports fan and participated in various sports leagues for many years including Hanson Bowling League, and Pembroke Men’s Softball League. He volunteered at the Historical Society’s annual fish fry for many years, working beside Bobby Hackett and his team. Joe was an unassuming guy whose gift of gab will be missed. Joe was predeceased by his parents, Patricia and Joseph Salmon, to whom he was a very devoted son. He leaves behind siblings, Michael Salmon and his wife Joanne, Mary Henderson and her husband Phil, Martha Salmon, and Cathy Salmon, all of Pembroke and John Salmon and his wife Joanne of Wolfeboro, NH. He was loving uncle to many nieces and nephews, and a proud great uncle. He leaves his devoted aunts, Mary Salmon of Bass River, MA, Kay Salmon of Chatham, MA, and Teeny Lynch of Jamaica Plain, MA. He also leaves many loving cousins and many wonderful friends. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, June 2nd, from 4-8:00 PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 7 Mattakeesett St (Rt. 14) Pembroke. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, June 3rd, at 11:00 AM at St. Mary of the Sacred Heart, 392 Hanover St, Hanover. Interment will be at the Center cemetery in Pembroke. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: Pembroke Food Pantry, 142 Center St, Pembroke, MA 02359.
