Obituary of Robert J. Williamson

Robert J. Williamson, age 85, of Duxbury, died on Thursday, March 31, 2016. Robert leaves behind his devoted family, his wife of 50 years, Sherry; his son, Robert Jr. and wife Ann Marie and their children Anna, Julia and Grace of Gilbert, Arizona; his daughter, Jennifer and her husband John Antaya and their children John Jr., Olivia and Chloe of Duxbury, Massachusetts; and his son, John of Duxbury. Formerly of Stamford, CT, he was born in Chicago, IL, served in the Korean War and began his long career in broadcasting with Metromedia, moved to New York where he continued his success with RKO as general manager of WOR-TV, general manager of WNAC Boston, and finally President of RKO Radio. He had recently retired to Duxbury. He made the life of everyone he touched a brighter place. Visiting hours at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main Street, (Route 106), Kingston, on Tuesday, April 5, 2016, from 4:00-8:00 PM. Funeral services at the Shepherd Funeral Home, Kingston, on Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at 9:00 AM, followed by his funeral Mass to be celebrated at the Holy Family Church, 601 Tremont Street, Duxbury, at 10:00 AM. Interment with military honors will follow at the Mayflower Cemetery, 774 Tremont Street, Duxbury.
