Obituary of Fred W. Loring

Fred W. Loring, age 91, of Kingston, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2016, peacefully at the Newfield House in Plymouth, after a period of declining health.
He was the son of the late Robert & Lucy (Porter) Loring and husband of the late Aileen (Douglass) Loring.
After graduating from Kingston High School in 1942, Fred enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the start of World War II, serving in hospitals in Scotland, England and Germany. He was also a crew member on LST 351 and participated in the invasion on D-DAY, bringing troops to the beach and caring for the casualties on the return trip to the hospital ships. After the war, he worked at the VA clinic in Boston as a claims examiner and retired after 35 years as secretary to the clinic director.
Fred is survived by a daughter, Lizabeth Loring of Kingston; a son, Doug Loring & his wife Shelley of Kingston; grandfather of Jason Grey of Arizona, Andrew Loring of Carver, Allison Loring of Boston and great-grandfather of two. He is the brother of Helen Smith of Kingston, Robert Loring of Florida, the late Phyllis Loring of Yarmouthport and Porter Loring of Plymouth.
The family thanks the entire staff at the Newfield House in Plymouth for the kindness and personal care extended to Fred during his stay.
Memorial visiting hours will be held at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main Street, (Route 106), Kingston, on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, from 5:00-8:00 PM.
Funeral and interment services will be private.
