Leroy (Roy) Woodward, age 88, of Carver MA, formerly of Mashpee and Canton, MA passed away peacefully with his family by his side. Roy was born in Taunton, MA on May 12, 1927. Roy is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Dorothy (Dennison) Woodward. Loving father of Ronald of Roslindale, MA, Thomas (and his wife Maria) of Worcester, MA, and Cynthia Silvia (and her husband Deno) of Wareham, MA. Brother of Harold Gornall of California, Ellen (Gornall) Hatch of FL and Evamae (Gornall) Dumolin of Taunton, MA and the late Rayburn Gornall, the late William Gornall. Papa to his grandchildren, Tracy Furtado, Thomas Woodward Jr., Amanda Marshall and Megan Marshall and to his great-grandchildren Kaitlyn, Christopher, Mariah and Jordan. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was a graduate of Taunton High and served our country during WWII in the U.S. Navy. He was a computer field engineer for Univac then Honeywell. He was a proud member of Triad of Mashpee, assisting with the registration of Alzheimer’s victims. His happiest times were when he was surrounded by his family. Visiting hours will be held at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main Street (Rt. 58) Carver, MA on Friday, February 5th, 2016 from 10:00 to12:00PM. A Funeral service will follow at the United Parish of Carver. Internment services with military honors will be held at the MA National Cemetery in Bourne. In lieu of flowers, donations made be made in Roy’s memory to either the American Heart Association (www.heart.org) or the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org).
