Obituary of John Duffy

John (Jack) Duffy Jr., who truly lived a “Wonderful Life”, was born on August 25, 1924 in Boston. Jack attended High School at Boston English and planned on attending Holy Cross until he signed up to serve in the US Army during World War II. He served for 3 years and earned a Bronze Star for heroism. Following the war, he opened his own gas station, and then met his beautiful bride of 55 years, Marilyn Cooney Duffy. He later established a successful career in the shoe industry as sales manager for Cooney/Weiss-Inmont Corporation,and later started his own business. Jack was a competitive golfer, member at Thorny Lea GC in Brockton, White Cliffs CC in Plymouth, and Countryside GC in Naples, FL, and winning many Member/Guest tournaments. He was also a member of the Weymouth Disabled American Vets. Jack was an avid Boston sports fan; Patriots, Sox, Bruins and Celtics, although some would consider him the ultimate “Fair Weather Fan.” Jack was very proud of his children and their accomplishments, especially that all seven were college graduates. He is survived by his seven children; John (Jay) Duffy and wife Rhonda of Atlanta, GA., Kathleen Duffy-DiCarlo and partner Peter Robarts of Duxbury, MA., Prasad Paul Duffy of Los Angeles, CA, Karen Balaschi and husband Mike ofKingston, MA., Mark Duffy and wife Laura of Wilton, CT., Chris Duffy of Newmarket, N.H., Michelle Amirault and husband Eddie of Kingston, MA., along with 23 wonderful grandchildren and his brother-in-law, Jack Cooney and his wife, Donna, Orlando,FL. He was predeceased by his parents John and Mary Mullen Duffy, his sister Kathleen Duffy, and close cousin, Mary Elizabeth Tibbetts. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, July 28th from 4-8:00 PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St. (Rt. 106) Kingston. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, July 29th at St. Joseph's Church, Kingston at 9:00 AM. Mr. Duffy will be laid to rest with military honors at the MA National Cemetery in Bourne.
