Shirley Ann Marble, 92, passed away peacefully in her Duxbury home on Wednesday, July 22, 2015, surrounded by loved ones and her precious Yorkshire terrier, Winnie.
Born in Portland, Oregon, Shirley was the last surviving child of George and Theodosia Daughtrey.
After graduating from Oregon State, Shirley pursued a career in teaching. In one of her greatest adventures, she was a pioneering teacher in Anchorage AK during the 1940s and 1950s before marrying her late husband, Earl Marble, and dedicating her life to her family. In addition to teaching, Shirley was a gifted artist, preferring to sketch and paint scenes of nature and animals.
Shirley leaves behind her two loving daughters, Nancy Marble of Lexington SC and Carol Marble of Duxbury MA, as well as her longtime care-taker and friend, Sharon Moynihan of Duxbury MA, and close friends, Anne and Edd Brooks of Sandwich MA and Claire Theobald of Woburn MA.
Shirley’s vibrant and beautiful soul will be truly missed by all who knew her.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
