Richard Charles Janhola, 68, of Pembroke, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, June 20, 2015 surrounded by his family. Rick was born in Brockton in 1946, son of the late George and Eleanor (Rose) Janhola of Abington. Rick was a loving husband to Louise (French) originally of Abington. He was the loving father to the late Kristen Janhola, and is survived by his daughter Kerry and Patrick Sherry of Halifax, and his daughter Stefanie and Gene Haen of Pembroke. Rick was the fun loving Grandfather to Brian, Paige and Kevin Sherry, and Adam and Amanda Haen. Rick grew up in Abington and was part of the Abington High School Class of 1964. While in high school he was a member of the school band where he met his future wife Louise. Rick was a member of the U.S. Navy from 1966 – 1970. Rick owned Janelco Electric and Alarms. Rick was an active member in the 22nd MVI, American Legion, and Tri-Town Rotary. Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday, June 25, from 4:00 to 8:00PM. at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 7 Mattakeesett St, (Rte. 14), Pembroke. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 10:30AM at the Shepherd Funeral Home. Internment will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, on Friday, June 26, at 1:00 p.m. Family and Friends will depart from Shepherd Funeral Home at 11:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Rick’s memory to Make-A-Wish® Massachusetts and Rhode Island, One Bulfinch Place, 2nd Floor, Boston, MA 02114, 1-617-367-9474.
