Obituary of Charles B. Killian

Charles Butt Killian age 85, died Sunday, March 22, 2015 in Duxbury Massachusetts. Charles is survived by his loving wife, Barbara (Healey) Killian of Duxbury Massachusetts; his children: Jonathan and wife Cathy of Rhode Island, Kathryn and husband Patrick McDavid of Arlington, Virginia, Mary and husband Brad Doyle of Duxbury, Massachusetts, Paul and wife Brigid of Groton, Massachusetts, and Charles and his wife Karen of Winchester, Massachusetts. He was the loving grandfather to 16 grandchildren: Nicholas, Meghan, Henry, and Bailey Killian, Grace, Shelby, and Camille McDavid, Bradley Parker, Emily, and Chadd Doyle, George, Mary, John, and Helen Killian, and Daniel and Jake Killian. He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy McIntire of Worcester, Massachusetts, Brother-in-law Reverend Charles Healey, SJ of Weston, Massachusetts and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his daughter Ann, his parents William White Killian and Dorothy (Butt) Killian, and siblings William, Virginia, Carol, and John.
Charles was born on June 9, 1929 in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts to parents William White and Dorothy (Butt) Killian. He graduated from Boston English High School, Northeastern University and worked at New England Nuclear/DuPont for over 30 years as a Safety Officer. He served as Chairman of the Governor’s Council on Low-Level Radioactive Waste, President of northeast chapter of the Health Physics Society, Chariman of the Newmarket Business Association, and an active participate in the Northeastern RE-SEED program, and My Brother’s Keeper.
Visiting hours will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St (Rt. 106), Kingston. A mass of Christian burial in celebration of Charles’s life will be held at Holy Family Church, Duxbury, MA at 1:00 pm on March 25, 2015.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Greater Boston Food Bank (my.gbfb.org).
