After briefly having a few voice lessons at the age of 10 with Dr. David McClosky, Barbara became my first voice teacher when a junior at Duxbury High School. She was the quintessential instructor, extremely knowledgeable, kind and encouraging. She insisted that I audition for a very fine conservatory in the Midwest, and after two years, I went back to Boston to become her student at the Boston Conservatory. We stayed in touch for many years by letter and when in town, I would stop by her home on Bay Ridge to sing some of my repertoire and we'd sit for awhile and catch up. She was always gracious and loving, upholding the highest standards in vocal pedagogy and caring towards all her students past and present. I will never forget her, as she is so much a part of my singing and teaching journey. God bless.

I sent a message earlier. I forgot to say that I had the honor of being in the first "class" of Certified McClosky Voice Technicians. I am proud to carry on the work of Barbara and Blair McClosky, helping troubled voices to function in good health.

Barbara was a gracious woman with many skills and talents. She collaborated with her husband, David Blair McClosky, in developing and spreading valuable techniques for those with vocal problems and to others who wanted to optimize their speaking and singing—singers, actors, and public figures. After Blair's death, she gave generously of her time and talents to the McClosky Institute. We thank you, Barbara!

Dear Robin, Susan and Ruthie,
So sorry to learn of Auntie Barbara's passing.
We saw a photo of her at the nursing home in the newspaper a year or so ago and she looked quite well.
I can always remember how nice she was to me when I was young and I was building my boat over at Uncle Blair's barn.
We hope you all are well!
Sincerely,
John and Donna Delano

I am so sorry to learn of Barbara's passing. I had the privilege of meeting her and Blair in the 80s at several McClosky seminars in Boston. I was lucky enough to have a few private lessons with Blair and one with Barbara. She was a great lady, a patient teacher, and a wonderful musician. She will be missed. Rest in Peace.

As a pioneering music pedagogue, she leaves an important legacy unto the current generation of singers as well as generations to come. She dedicated her life's work to the performing arts and helping others understand, pursue, and achieve personal excellence. Brava, maestra.
