After briefly having a few voice lessons at the age of 10 with Dr. David McClosky, Barbara became my first voice teacher when a junior at Duxbury High School. She was the quintessential instructor, extremely knowledgeable, kind and encouraging. She insisted that I audition for a very fine conservatory in the Midwest, and after two years, I went back to Boston to become her student at the Boston Conservatory. We stayed in touch for many years by letter and when in town, I would stop by her home on Bay Ridge to sing some of my repertoire and we'd sit for awhile and catch up. She was always gracious and loving, upholding the highest standards in vocal pedagogy and caring towards all her students past and present. I will never forget her, as she is so much a part of my singing and teaching journey. God bless.
