Obituary of Joan T. Wallace

Please share a memory of Joan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joan T. (Stanton) Wallace, of Pembroke, originally Dorchester, passed away on Tuesday, March 10th surrounded by her loving family. Born October 3, 1931 in Boston, Joan, was the daughter of the late Patrick and Elizabeth Stanton. Joan graduated from Cardinal Cushing High School, and spent many years working in the Pembroke schools and at Stop & Shop. Joan’s greatest work in life, though, was raising and sharing in the lives of her five beloved children, Denise Murphy of Dorchester, Joanne McCarron of Falmouth, Nancy Barrett and her husband William of Hanover, Timothy Wallace and his wife Alison of Marion, and Beth Frieburger and her husband Robert of Kingston. She was the cherished sister of Claire Leonard and the late Mary Kincade, Helen Buckley, Richard Stanton, Ruth Kirby, and Doris Kilroy. With her children she celebrated the many accomplishments and life events of her ten adoring grandchildren, Michelle Murphy Mailloux, Kerry McCarron Casey, Patrick McCarron, William Barrett, Kevin McCarron, Matthew Barrett, Nicholas Frieburger, John Frieburger, Audrey Wallace, and Bridget Wallace. As her family grew, Joan affectionately became known as Nana the Great to her five great-grandchildren, Parker Mailloux, Jack Casey, Brendan McCarron, Everly Mailloux, and Aiden McCarron. She is also survived by Miranda Fox who was like a granddaughter to her. She was also a loving aunt and great-aunt to many nieces and nephews and to all of her large, extended family. Joan was a lover of life, enriching the lives of all she met with songs and sayings that brought both smiles and many laughs. She could light up a room and yet make each and every person feel like they were number one. Joan was a woman of strength, determination, spirit, and, most importantly, love. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, March 14th at St. Thecla’s Church, 145 Washington Street, Pembroke at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joan’s memory may be made to Jane Doe Inc., 14 Beacon Street Suite 507, Boston, MA 02108 or online at www.janedoe.org/donate.
