John J. Brown, a longtime resident of Kingston, died unexpectedly at his home on March 7, 2015. He was born in Plymouth on November 22, 1940. Son of the late Thomas and Catherine Brown. John is survived by his beloved wife, Cheryl (Nava) Brown. A cherished and loving father, he is survived by his children, Angela Brown-Stevens and her husband David Stevens, Andrea Mellville and her fiancé, Glenn Davis, of Plymouth and Bethany Brown and her husband, Bruce Hamlet, of Kingston. John was the devoted grandfather of Nicolette, Cameron and Catherine Stevens, Andrew and Jordan Melville and Hunter and Alex Hamlet. John is also survived by his loving brothers, Thomas and his wife, Phyllis and Henry Brown of Plymouth. John graduated from Plymouth High School in 1959, served in the National Guard and later graduated from Bryant & Stratton College. He served as a volunteer fireman for the Town of Kingston, a dispatcher in the Fire Department; retired after many years of service in the Kingston Tax Collector's office. John's greatest joy in life was his family, and he instilled a sense of traditional values in his children and took immense pride in their many accomplishments. He especially enjoyed all the time he spent with his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Visiting hours will be held at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St. (Rt106) on Friday, March 13, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph's church, Kingston on Saturday, March 14 at 10:00AM. Interment will follow at Mayflower Cemetery, Duxbury. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
