Barry Holmes Parent passed away peacefully on March 2 at home with his wife Joann, Daughter Dawn and his cat Gracie by his side. Barry was born on October 17,1944 in Boston Massachusetts, the son of former Chief of Police of Carver, MA ,Raymond Parent (deceased) his mother Sarah C. Giammarco and Stepfather John Giammarco (deceased). He was a graduate of Middleboro High School and served as a reservist in the Army National Guard. Barry was a member of The International Union of Operating Engineers Local #4 for over forty years as a Heavy Equipment operator. Barry was a past member of APBA and raced the Thirsty Pilgrim both in the water and on local race tracks in the New England area. He is survived by his wife Joann Fontaine and his Daughter, Dawn (Parent) Guiney and her husband Brian Guiney of Hyannisport. His former wife Sandra “Shushie” Parent. He also leaves two grandchildren Vernon Ferreira Jr. and Deignan Paul Guiney.He leaves his mother Sarah C. Giammarco along with two sister’s Linda Russell and Shari Pittsley and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Barry had an infectious laugh and always a smile on his face, he followed Nascar and the Green Bay Packers his insight will be surely missed by all. Visiting hours will be held March 6 at the Shepherds Funeral Home 116 Main St. Carver, Ma. on Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. A private mass for family will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at United Parish 115 Main St. Carver followed by a private burial at Central Cemetery located behind United Parish Church. In lieu of flowers please donate to the American Caner Society .
