I am heartbroken. Charlie's light and energy was contagious. I am so sorry that I was unable to attend the services. By the time I found out, it was too late. What a tremendous loss for the community. My heart pours out to Carol and family.

I will never forget your kindness towards me. You treated me as part of your family from day one.
May you rest in peace sweet man and may you and Shawn together watch over Auntie Carol, Danny, Stephanie, Andrea, Benjamin and Brayden. I was honored to call you uncle.

Charlie, myself, John Sullivan and Dick Grace were sort of a foursome growing up . We did so much together. We really liked being around Charlie because he was the best looking of us (his words, not mine). I left for the Air Force when I was 17 so sort of lost trace of him until a day in 2014. Dick Grace and myself were determined to find him so we headed out to Pembroke looking for ole Charlie. We found the house but no one home so we drove all over Pembroke looking and looking for what?We finally gave up and as we were leaving town decided to stop at a McDonalds for a cup of coffee. As we walked in I saw someone sitting behind a table with several vegtables in a small basket. On a hunch I walked over and sat beside him. I said we were strangers in town and asked him if he knew of a man named Charlie Sweet. He said thats me! He could not identify me but said " that other guy looks familiar"meaning Dick Grace. I gave him several hints but he still could not place me. After all, it was 62 years since we saw each other. Charlie, Dick and I spent the best 2 hours just talking. Charlie, thank you for being you.We may have been years apart in our lives but you will always be my friend, my brother. Rest in peace. You are missed by many.

Charlie had an amazing laugh that would light up anyone's day. The vegetable stand he set up at the store was so adorable (and convenient for the local Pembroke patrons). He was part of our family and will be greatly missed by the entire Pembroke Center Dunkin' Donuts crew!

I was Shawn's grade 9 English teacher and remember him and Mr. Sweet well from back then and, subsequently, from seeing Mr. sweet around town. Such a nice man! He will be missed.

My thoughts and prayers to the entire Sweet family during this difficult time. I was a classmate of Shawn's growing up and always enjoyed seeing Charlie at Dunkin Donuts with my own kids. He always had a kind word and I enjoyed the stories he shared and his memories of Shawn. Charlie will certainly be missed by all in Pembroke who knew him.
