Dear Petro Family, News of Alec's passing has been difficult for me. He was among our first student/ski racers at Mountain House School in the late 1970s. His vigor, intelligence, and vision will be sorely missed. I ran into him on a couple of occasions on Boston Common and truly enjoyed reminiscing with him. What a loss. My heart goes out to Jay and his wife and children.

To the entire Petro Family - all of the Ericksons send our deep sympathy and prayers at the extremely untimely loss of Alec. We have very fond memories of being 'backstreet neighbors' on Phoenix and Ardsley in Schenectady, and I especially remember playing with Matt and Alec in younger, happy days. We are truly sorry and heartbroken.

Dear Leah, Christian, Grace and Ben,
Words cannot express how deeply saddened Becky and I are by your loss. Alec held a special place in our hearts, as he was my first mentor: I was his junior trader partner in the D-Mark options at the beginning of my trading career. He was a very good trader and a wonderful mentor.
To this day, I share the story of an especially eventful trading day when Alec demonstrated a timeless principle of good trading, from which I have benefitted significantly over these ensuing the years.
I spoke to Alec by phone on Nov. 21st. He subsequently introduced me to Blake's brother Brad in Houston, from which I have also benefitted.
We miss Alec dearly, already. Our thoughts and prayers are with you guys.
With love,
Joe & Becky

Among Alec’s countless accomplishments should be “matchmaker.” His funny, offhand remark led to an introduction, and eventually, my marriage.
Alec was one of my earliest Chicago friends and an enthusiastic mentor, to me and others. Beyond the workplace, many hours were spent together in the classrooms of the 190 building, poring over homework, or sitting in auctions for art and collectibles. His intensity and taste for pens left countless ink blotches on the chest pocket of trading jackets, and led us to wonder if his blood did indeed run blue. His matchmaking extended to introducing those in his wide circle of wonderful friends and in helping many through career introductions. Alec lived large in every pursuit and every life he impacted, and remains quite an inspiration.
He will always be warmly remembered. Leah, Christian, Grace and Ben- my family joins me in sending our deepest sympathies to you on your enormous loss.

Dear Leah and Family - We are so sorry for your loss. Our hearts go out to the whole family. We have so many amazing memories of skiing with the Petro family over the years. We appreciate all of the love and support from Alec and his mom and dad and Matt during our ski racing years. The time at Mountain House/NSA and with the Pipers was so precious. It was always fun to go to North Creek and Lake Placid. I still remember you all stopping in Stowe and sledding onto our pond. We will miss Alec so much and will have all of you in our prayers. With much sympathy - Love Jan Schriefer

Dear Leah:
It is with great sorrow that I have learned of Alec's passing away. I remember him as a kind and generous man whom was always willing to help those in need. Alec graciously advised me in regards to investments, bike purchases and even was so kind as to share the name of a caretaker for my Saquish property. I will always remember with warmth and love-

My condolences to the Petro family. I was a student at Boston College in 1994 when Alec interviewed me and ultimately gave me my first job at Cooper Neff. He was a wonderful mentor to me and taught me some great life lessons including integrity, mental toughness, teamwork, and forgiveness when I made mistakes early in my career. Truly a great man.
My thoughts are with his family in this difficult time
