George A. Peck, Sr., "Big George", 68, of Carver, passed away on December 19, 2014 after lengthy illness. Beloved husband of 49 years to Marjorie Peck of Carver. Loving father to George Peck, Jr of Carver, and the late David M. Peck. Son of the late George F. and Mary Quinlan Peck. Brother of Joseph Peck of Carver, and brother in law of Robert E. Southwick of Taunton. Grandfather to Sarah Peck of Kingston. George is also survived by his extended family, as well as many loved ones. George was a lifetime member of the Plympton Upland Club, Carver Fire Department Assoc, MA Mechanic's Assoc., and Plymouth County Fire Wardens Assoc. He worked for Wareham Fire as a master mechanic for many years. He was Captain of Company 2, North Carver Fire Dept., for 25 years. Chairman of the building of the North Carver Fire Station. He was a member of Cape Cod Cranberry Assoc, and was an Ocean spray grower. He worked for Maxim Motors Fire Trucks in Middleboro for many years. George was also a member of the Humane, and Audobon Society. "Big George" was always willing to help anyone at any time. His buddy was his dog Clyde, and he enjoyed the comfort of his cats during the time he was sick. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, December 26th from 4-8:00 PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main St (Rt. 58) Carver. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 27th at 10:00 AM at the Shepherd Funeral Home. Interment will be at the Lakenham cemetery in Carver. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Carver Fire Department or to the National Humane Society.
