John R. Alvaro, 74, of Kingston, MA passed away Friday, December 12, 2014 after a long term illness. John was born in Monticello NY. He is survived by his loving wife Joan F. Alvaro. He was the son of the late Frank Alvaro and the late Vina Bergen Lang. He was the loving father of four children, his sons John David Alvaro of Clintondale, NY, Dean Alvaro of Clintondale, NY, Mark Alvaro of State Hill, NY and daughter, Nancy Cowan of Binghamton, NY. He was also survived by his step daughters, Linda Gaudreau of Scituate, MA, Joanne Paladino of Pembroke MA, Susan Caggiano of Kingston, MA. John was the grandfather of his twelve beloved grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. John worked as a Construction Superintendent and Clerk of the Works until he retired in 2005. A beloved husband, father and grandfather, he was a great man loved by many. John loved cooking, the company of his family and many friends, and visiting Foxwoods with his sons. He had traveled to more than 30 states over his life, building bridges and foundations for large construction projects. He had a wonderful voice and loved singing gospel hymns at Church and Elvis and Roy Orbison at Karaoke. He never met a person who didn't become a life-long friend. Visiting hours will be held at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St (Rt 106) in Kingston MA, on Thursday December 18, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00PM. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday Dec 19, at St. Joseph's Church, Kingston, MA at 10:00AM.
