Please share a memory of Claire to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Claire Ann (Borghesani) Govoni passed away on Sunday, November 23rd, at the age of 84, peacefully after a brief illness. Claire was born on July 30, 1930 in Kingston, MA. She was the daughter of the late Otto and Blanche (Lessard) Borghesani and sister of the late Francis, Alton, Louis, Richard Borghesani and Mary (Peanie) Baker. Claire was married for 62 years to her beloved late husband Joseph. She is survived by her four sons; Ronald, of Easton; Kevin, of Plympton; Gary, of Cranston RI; and Dana, of Plympton, as well as 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Claire was employed as a scheduler at Halliday Lithograph in Plympton for many years. She also helped run the family’s store in Kingston. “Sis” had three main passions in her life. She loved sports, having played softball and basketball as a teenager. She also enjoyed playing and watching golf, tennis and bowling, and she refereed high school basketball after marrying. Above all, she was a devoted Red Sox fan. Her next love was music. Claire was a member of Sweet Adelines for over 30 years. She sang as a member of choruses in Plymouth and Canton, and was also a founding member of choruses in Hanover and Cape Cod. She also sang with many quartets. She enjoyed playing piano and guitar. In her later years she entertained the residents of Evanswood Nursing Home in Kingston by playing guitar with her brothers Dickie and Al, then singing and performing with her husband, Joe. Her primary passion however was family. She grew up in a close loving home and carried that on into her married life. She was a loving mother. She loved becoming a grandmother, then great-grandmother and delighted in spending time with her family, especially on Sunday nights when she and Joe would host dinner for the entire family. A funeral mass in her honor will be held at St Joseph’s Church, 272 Main Street (Route 106) Kingston on December 6, 2014 at 10AM, followed by a gathering at the St Joseph’s Parish Center. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to The Jimmy Fund.
