Obituary of Rose Mary McCarthy

Rose Mary McCarthy, 90, passed away peacefully on Monday, November, 17, 2014. She was the loving wife of the late Dr. Daniel J. McCarthy. Rose Mary is also survived by her children Daniel McCarthy, John McCarthy and his wife Reiko, Vincent McCarthy and Rosemary Tibert. She is also survived by her brothers, Vincent and John Hoye and her sisters, Eleanor Joyce, Agnes Ison and Ann Van Arnum. She was a devoted grandmother to Fletcher, Amelia, Meredith, Saya and Kana. Rose Mary's late husband was president of Framingham State College for many years and Mrs. McCarthy, a graduate of the college, remained an active member of the alumni association. After Dr. McCarthy's retirement, the family relocated to Duxbury, where they cherished their time in the community. Visiting hours will be held at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St., (Rt 106) in Kingston on Thursday November 20 from 4:00 to 8:00PM. Family and friends are welcome to the funeral home Friday November 21 at 9am, with a funeral Mass to follow at Holy Family Church Duxbury at 10:00AM. Internment will follow at Mayflower Cemetery in Duxbury.
