Margaret L. (Lown) Benoit, age 72, of Hillsdale, Michigan, formerly of Halifax, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2014, surrounded by her beloved family.
Margaret was born on January 14, 1942 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to Bert and Catherine (Lillis) Lown. She married Kenneth R. Benoit on August 31, 1961 in Michigan. He preceded her in death on October 1, 2012.
Margaret lived many years in Halifax with her husband. Margaret was a Librarian Assistant at the Holmes Public Library for 30 years in Halifax. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, reading, and watching all her grandchildren play sports. She was a fan of the New England Patriots. Margaret loved spending time with her family, especially “going home” to see them in Michigan. She was a hard worker, a superb cook and a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.
Margaret was the loving mother of Michael Benoit of Plymouth, Christopher (Barbara) Benoit of Marshfield, Michelle (Kevin) Pearce of Bridgewater; dear sister of Thomas (Cynthia) Lown of Grand Rapids, MI, Richard (Ann) Lown of Quincy, Judith Ann (William) Brewer of Hillsdale, MI, Kathleen (John) Paradine of Hillsdale, MI, Janet (Tim) Eslow of Coldwater, MI, Nancy (Tom) Bolling of Quincy; dear sister-in-law of Theodore Sims of Colorado Springs, CO, Dianne Richard of Kingston, Audrey Benoit of Canton; cherished Mimi of Jessica, Victoria and Joshua Benoit of Marshfield, Ryan and Carley Pearce of Bridgewater and Great-Mimi of Nathan Christopher of Marshfield, and a sweet aunt to many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, David Lown; her sister, Carol Sims; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Alice & Arthur Benoit; and her brother-in-law, George Benoit.
Visitation will be held at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main Street, (Route 106), Kingston, on Monday, November 17, 2014, from 10:00-10:45 AM, with a prayer service starting at 10:45 AM.
Interment will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, 1 Bennington Boulevard, Bourne, at 12:30 PM.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Saint Anthony of Padua Parish in Hillsdale, Michigan, on Friday, November 28, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be held prior to the Mass, beginning at 10:00 AM, at the Church.
