Gerard L. Kirby Obituary

Gerard L. Kirby, of Duxbury, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his children. He was 93.

He is survived by his three daughters: Mara Kirby of Groveland, Massachusetts; Jane Kirby of Charlotte, Vermont; and Elizabeth Kirby of Carlisle, Massachusetts; and his grandchildren Emily Arnow, Olivia Arnow, and Jacob Gager.

Mr. Kirby graduated with a degree from The Carroll School of Management at Boston College. His business career included WHDH radio in Boston, John C. Dowd Advertising Agency, Columbia Broadcasting, Kirby Marketing Services and Durkee-Mower, Inc. In his retirement, Mr. Kirby’s primary interests were watercolor painting and recorder playing. In addition he continued to study at the Harvard University Institute for Learning in Retirement.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Church in Duxbury, on Friday October 31st at 10:00 AM followed by a burial at Holyhood Cemetery in Chestnut Hill. In lieu of flowers, it would be kind of you to send a contribution to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
