Kingston, MA - Robert E. Miller, 84, passed away on Friday, October 10, 2014.
Born in Waukegan, Illinois, he was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served from 1950 to 1954. While stationed at Otis Air Force Base
he met his wife, Ann Herget of Kingston. They married in 1955 and have resided in Kingston ever since. Bob was an active member of the Kingston community, serving as Captain of the Volunteer Fire Department for many years. He was the Playground Commissioner and enjoyed his years coaching the Pirates Little League baseball team.
He loved playing bocce and being a member of the Cabot Bocce Club in North Plymouth, the Seaside Club also in North Plymouth and the Hilltop Athletic Association in Kingston.
Bob owned and operated Herget Oil Service in Kingston from 1964 until 1995. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in North Plymouth.
Bob and Ann spent many years enjoying their cottage in the Campground on Martha's Vineyard.
Bob is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ann of Kingston; his four daughters, Lizabeth Leadbetter, wife of Edward of Whitman; Lydia Reininger, wife of Philippe of Springfield, VA; Hannah Frizzell, wife of Frederick of Kingston, and Katherine Davey, wife of Kenneth of Oak Bluffs; and eight grandchildren, Jason, Rachel and Amy Leadbetter, Julien and Audrey Reininger, Thomas and Nora Frizzell and Caroline Davey.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, October 15 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main Street, Kingston.
The Funeral will be held on Thursday, October 16 at 10:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church, 386 Court Street, North Plymouth.
Family and Friends are kindly invited to attend both services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Zion Lutheran Church.
