Obituary of Margaret Elizabeth Carroll

Margaret "Betty" Elizabeth (Hunter) Carroll, age 92, of Plymouth, formerly of Duxbury, died on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Plymouth Crossings in Plymouth. Betty was born in Brookline, MA and lived there until 1972, when she moved to Duxbury, MA, for 34 years. She has resided at Plymouth Crossings, in Plymouth, MA for 7 1/2 years. Betty is survived by her son, Charles "Chuck" Carroll of Whitman, MA; her daughter, Margaret "Peggy" MacKinnon of Duxbury, MA; her daughter, Anne Keay of Milford, MA. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Betty took care of children of many different families in both Brookline and Duxbury. She also worked in the nursery during church services in two churches, Saint Paul's Church of the Nazarene and Holy Family Church, both in Duxbury. She watched children at Saint Mary's Church in Hanover, MA, during weekly meetings. Betty also did custodial work at Berrybrook School in Duxbury, MA from 1979-1990. Visiting hours at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main Street, (Route 106), Kingston, on Monday, August 18, 2014, from 4:00-8:00 PM. Her funeral Mass will be held at the Holy Family Church, 601 Tremont Street, Duxbury, on Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at 10:00 AM. Interment services will follow at Saint Joseph's Cemetery, 990 LaGrange Street, West Roxbury. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer's Association, American Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice.
