Obituary of Mary Irene Todd
Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mary Irene "Jason" Todd, of Duxbury, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, May 31, 2014, at the age of 76. She spent her last several months surrounded each day by family and friends as she laughed and loved while courageously battling ovarian cancer.
Jason was born in Johnstown, Penn. and raised in Ebensburg, Penn. She graduated from Seton Hill University in Greensburg, Penn. After college, Jason worked as a first grade teacher in Camp Hill, Penn. After moving to Duxbury, she worked as a social worker, parent aid supervisor and director of volunteer services for the Massachusetts Department of Social Services. Then Gov. Michael Dukakis presented her with an award for her outstanding community service. She spent many years volunteering in Duxbury as a religious education teacher at Holy Family Church, in the PTO and for the music boosters. She spent many years as a member of the Holy Family Folk Group. She was happiest when listening to or playing music, reading on Duxbury Beach or anywhere on Cadillac Mountain in Maine, and gardening. She enjoyed travel, especially to Bar Harbor, Maine, and attending any activity involving her grandchildren.
She leaves her husband, John, of 52 years; a brother, Carl Johnson of Charlotte, N.C.; son, John J. Todd Jr. and his wife Lisa of Hingham; daughter, Mary Frances "Missy" Battista and her husband Dana of Kingston; daughter, Julia Armstrong and her husband David of Duxbury; and son, Carl Todd and his wife Leigh of Scituate. Jason was fondly known as Mimi to her grandchildren: Julia and Amanda Todd; Maria and Anna Battista; Abigail, Christopher and Jordan Armstrong, and Daniel and William Todd.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main Street, (Route 106), Kingston.
