Obituary of Rita Michel Strong

Rita Michel Strong, of Duxbury, formerly of Cohasset, MA, and Toledo, OH, passed away on May 22, 2014. She was 68 years old.
Rita committed much of her life to raising her family and was the inspiration for the family's aquaculture business. She was active in South Shore Real Estate for many years where she was loved for her warmth and sincerity by customers and colleagues alike. She also served as a grass roots worker for the Republican Party in Ohio, Michigan, and Massachusetts. She served as Chair for both the Cohasset and Duxbury Republican Town Committees and worked on town government boards. Rita loved to walk the beaches of Cohasset and Duxbury, enjoyed travel, and was especially grateful to have had the opportunity to go on several European adventures despite her advancing illness.
Rita is survived by her beloved husband, Louis Strong. Loving mother of Hillary Goldberg, and her husband John of Coral Gables, FL, John Strong of Duxbury, and Benjamin Strong of Duxbury. Sister of Gretchen Oberdick of Reading, MI. Cherished grandmother of Louisa, Molly, and Thomas Goldberg. Rita is also survived by her six nieces and nephews, as well as her extended family, and friends.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, May 26th from 5-8:00 PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St (Rt. 106) Kingston. Rita's funeral service will be held at the Pilgrim Church, 404 Washington St, Duxbury on Tuesday, May 27th at 1pm. Interment will be at the Mayflower cemetery in Duxbury. A reception at Pilgrim Church will follow the cemetery service.
