Obituary of Daniel Keefe Kehoe

Daniel Keefe Kehoe, of Duxbury, MA, died peacefully at his home, supported and surrounded by his family and friends, on Friday, April 18, 2014, at the age of 77. He was the beloved husband of the late Sandra A. (Spanley) Kehoe, for 50 years. He is survived by his sons, Brian of Kingston, MA, Paul of Brewster, MA, Scott and daughter-in-law Alicyn of Kingston, MA. He was the proud and loving grandfather (papa) to Andrew, Bridget and Daniel Kehoe. He is also survived by his two sisters, Rosemary Sutich of Melrose, MA and Peggy Wallace of Rome, NY. Daniel was born in Nashua, NH on March 16, 1937. He grew up in Nashua and was the son of the late Andrew and Mary (Keefe) Kehoe. He graduated from Nashua High School in 1954, where he was involved in student government and on the schools cross country, basketball and track teams. He received his undergraduate degree from Boston College where he majored in chemistry and education and obtained his Masters from Union College. He began his 40 year career in public education in 1958, throughout which he touched the lives of many as an educator and coach. He held positions of continuing responsibility and scope in the Quincy, Dedham, Newton, Marshfield and Millis school systems. He retired from public sector as the Superintendent of Schools in Millis and embarked on a rewarding second career as a consultant in the emerging field of high tech education. In his leisure time, he enjoyed his time with family and friends. He shared a special bond and interest with his son’s friends throughout his life. He was active as a volunteer conducting interviews for prospective Boston College attendees from Duxbury High School an active contributor to the towns Recreation Department and Emergency Services Group. He was especially fond of Duxbury Beach and all the coastline offered, local sports, reading and assorted home projects. Visiting hours at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main Street, (Route 106), Kingston, MA, on Thursday, April 24, 2014, from 4:00-8:00 PM. His funeral service will be held at the Shepherd Funeral Home, Kingston, MA, on Friday, April 25, 2014, at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at the Mayflower Cemetery, 774 Tremont Street, Duxbury, MA. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168, www.dana-farber.org
