Obituary of Matthew V. LaGreca

Matthew V. LaGreca, age 40, passed away peacefully, at home in Plymouth, on Thursday, April 10, 2014.
Born October 1, 1973, in Duxbury, Matt was a lifelong resident of the South Shore. Throughout his childhood, Matt made a name for himself in Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball. He graduated from Duxbury High School in 1992, where he was an exceptional football player, wrestler and baseball player. In 1996, Matt earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Curry College, where he also played football. Matt was the consummate salesman, spending several years working in the family Oreck Store business. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing, and he took a special interest in geology and bird watching. He was an animal lover and also an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan. Matt’s vibrant personality will be missed by those who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his late mother, Jean (Kiley) Harding. He is survived by his father, Tony LaGreca and stepmother, Janice LaGreca of Duxbury; his grandmother, Edith LaGreca of Duxbury; his brother, Joseph LaGreca of Plymouth; his step-sister, Kelly DeCorte and her children of Carver; his step-brother, Patrick Burke and his wife Maria of Warwick, RI; his fiancée, Shannon Lively and her children of Plymouth; his stepfather, Ron Harding and step-sister, Amy Harding, both of Kingston and multiple loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visiting hours at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main Street, (Route 106), Kingston, on Monday, April 14, 2014, from 4:00-8:00 PM.
His funeral service will be held at the First Parish Church, Unitarian Universalist, 842 Tremont Street, (Route 3A), Duxbury, on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at 11:00 AM. Family and friends are kindly invited.
Interment services will follow at the Mayflower Cemetery, 774 Tremont Street, Duxbury.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Matt's memory may be made to the Friends of Animals, http://friendsofanimals.org/
