Sheila (O'Connor) Washburn, 70, formerly of Braintree and Carver Passed away Sunday, March 30th surrounded by her loved ones. She is survived by her husband John Washburn and her children: Rev. Barry Hanson of Carver, Mary Russo of Carver, Charlene Washburn of Braintree, Sean Hanson of Houston,Texas, a brother, Kevin O'Connor of Whitman as well as 14 grandchildren and 3 nieces. Sheila was a graduate of St. Joseph's Grammar School in Boston, class of 1957, St. Gregory's High School in Dorchester, MA. Class of 1961. She attended Chandler School for Women following high school and after graduation, began her career as a legal secretary. She grew up in Boston and lived in Brockton, Abington, and Bridgewater before settling in Braintree for many years, and finally in Carver. She attended Brockton Assembly of God Church, Faith Chapel in Bridgewater, Church of Abundant Life in Braintree for many years with her husband John and finally Crossroads Community Church in Carver, where her son Barry is the new pastor. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 3rd from 2-8:00 PM at Crossroads Community Church, 307 Tremont St, Carver. A celebration of life service will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM at Crossroads Community Church, Carver. Burial will follow service at Bourne National Cemetery at 1:30 PM. Following the cemetery service, everyone is invited back to the church for a pot luck celebration. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Crossroads Community Church.
