Obituary of Blanche V. Merriam

Blanche V. (Johnson) Merriam, age 90, formerly of Carver, died on Friday, March 7, 2014, at the Sippican Healthcare Center in Marion. Blanche was born in Boston on April 17, 1923, the daughter of the late Eric & Mathilda (Guftafson) Johnson. She had been an active member of the United Methodist Church in both Stoughton and Plymouth. There, she was in the choir and participated in many of the church programs. Mrs. Merriam lived in Stoughton for 21 years before moving to Plymouth and Carver. Before retiring, she worked at Balsam’s Hallmark Store in Hanover and Wyman Jewelers in Stoughton. Family, friends and church were her life. Blanche was married to the late Bruce E. Merriam Jr., and a sister to Gertrude and Dorothy and the late Elsie and Edith. She has three children, Pam of Marion, Eric of Idaho and Paul of Bridgewater; five grandchildren, Karyn, Niles, Kendra-Leigh, Ashley and Andrew; and seven great-grandchildren, Megan, Melissa, Steven, Lanie, Landon, Molleigh and Myrick. There will be no visiting hours. Funeral services will be held at the United Methodist Church, 29 Carver Road, Plymouth, on Thursday, March 13, 2014, at 11:30 AM. Interment services will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the United Methodist Church, 29 Carver Road, Plymouth, MA 02360.
