Rose M. Coffin, of Kingston, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly on Monday, February 3, 2014, just shy of her 76th birthday. Rose was the third of thirteen children. She was the was the daughter of the late Gertrude L. (Mahoney) & Daniel W. Coffin. She graduated from Duxbury High School, class of 1958. Rose was a U.S. Air Force veteran and worked in the Purchasing Department at Jordan Hospital for over 30 years. She was devoted to her family, enjoyed reading, line dancing and over the years spending time with her cats. Rose is predeceased by her sister, Madelyn Chase & her husband William, and her brothers, Thomas Coffin and Daniel Coffin. She is survived by her brothers, Paul Coffin & his wife Jean of Halifax, John Coffin of Duxbury, her sisters, Janet Hart of Crestline, OH, Carolyn Coffin of Plymouth, Barbara Sjostedt & her husband Wayne of Duxbury, Margaret Holmes & her husband John of Kingston, Mary Derochea & her husband Arthur of Florida, Trudy Lavin & her husband Ted of Plymouth, Judy Davis of Duxbury and her sister-in-law, Kathleen Coffin of Duxbury. She is also survived by three generations of nieces and nephews and by her close friends, Rita Hayward and Mary Tannian. There will be no visiting hours. Her funeral Mass will be held at the Holy Family Church, 601 Tremont Street, Duxbury, on Friday, February 7, 2014, at 10:15 AM. Interment will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, 1 Bennington Boulevard, Bourne, at 12:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Rose's memory may be made to the Standish Humane Society, P.O. Box 634, Duxbury, MA 02331.
