I knew John from attending the same elementary school, junior high school, and high school. We were also in the same Boy Scout troop and were on the Mineola High School Track Team together.
John was a kind and gentle person. He had a ready laugh, and respected all people. While I have not seen him for quite some time, I am proud to have called him my friend.

John and I bunked together for two summers at boy scout camp probably 1970-71. He was a kind and thoughtful person. I would kid him that his last name was missing a "d". Reading about him he must have touched many lives in such a positive way. My sincerest condolences to his family and friends.

I was saddened to hear John's name announced today at Sunday Mass at St. Aidan's Church in Williston Park. My late husband, Peter Helmich, lived next door to the McPartlan family for many years. They were not only good neighbors, they were good friends, a wonderful family. I also knew John as an upper classmate at Mineola High School. Please accept my sincerest condolences and please know you will be in my prayers.
